Enhanced LMMSE equalizer for high-speed single frequency network in HSDPA

2011

Currently, considerable interest has been shown in the research and standardization communities in multicell transmission schemes for HSPA, with a number of possible schemes under discussion that include Multiflow, Fast Cell Switching (FCS) and High-Speed Single Frequency Network (HS-SFN). In particular, HS-SFN is a promising technique that not only combines received energy from participating cells, but also reduces intercell interference with low UE complexity. In principle, HS-SFN can be implemented with a small modification to an LMMSE receiver at the UE. This paper introduces a more advanced LMMSE equalizer for High-Speed Single Frequency Network in HSDPA that achieves further performan…

Analysis of MAC-level throughput in LTE systems with link rate adaptation and HARQ protocols

2015

LTE is rapidly gaining momentum for building future 4G cellular systems, and real operational networks are under deployment worldwide. To achieve high throughput performance, in addition to an advanced physical layer design LTE exploits a combination of sophisticated mechanisms at the radio resource management layer. Clearly, this makes difficult to develop analytical tools to accurately assess and optimise the user perceived throughput under realistic channel assumptions. Thus, most existing studies focus only on link-layer throughput or consider individual mechanisms in isolation. The main contribution of this paper is a unified modelling framework of the MAC-level downlink throughput of …

A Geometrical Channel Model for MIMO Mobile-to-Mobile Fading Channels in Cooperative Networks

2009

This paper deals with the modeling and analysis of narrowband multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) mobile- to-mobile (M2M) fading channels in relay-based cooperative networks. Non-line-of-sight (NLOS) propagation conditions are assumed in the transmission links from the source mobile station to the destination mobile station via the mobile relay. A stochastic narrowband MIMO M2M reference channel model is derived from the geometrical three-ring scattering model, where it is assumed that an infinite number of local scatterers surround the source mobile station, the mobile relay, and the destination mobile station. The complex channel gains associated with the new reference channel model are…

Wireless ATM : handover issues

1998

Basic aspects of cellular systems and the ATM transmission technology are introduced. Wireless ATM is presented as a combination of radio ATM and mobile ATM. Radio ATM is a wireless extension of an ATM connection while mobile ATM contains the necessary extensions to ATM to support mobility. Because the current ATM technology does not support mobility, handover becomes one of the most important research issues for wireless ATM. Wireless ATM handover requirements are thus analysed. A handover solution relying on two inter-related handover protocols is presented and evaluated. Future research is needed to compare this solution with options presented by earlier research and possibly combine the…
